In 2009, the airport controlled about 7,225,021 passengers, with an 11.7% annual reduction, designating it as the 2nd busiest in Scotland, moreover the eighth busiest airport of the UK. It was the first airport in Scotland to handle over one million passengers in one month, in July 2004. The British Airways head quarters are also headed by this airport. There are also the plans under consideration for development of the airport, with passenger figure predictable to raise over 24 million per year by the year 2030.
